10 Excuses That Are Holding You Back From Being Great!
You want to have self-awareness and growth? The first step is being honest with yourself to be great at anything.
How often do we challenge ourselves?
When you work on your goals daily, making sure to complete them because you’re aware, this might help you grow as a person and also your business growth.
If you read, understand without implementation, everything is worthless just like the best idea you have. so why do you still do it?
This might be occurring because you think your situation will change without lifting a finger or putting in an effort on your part. I have seen this reluctance to implement time and again, with talent being wasted and companies failing due to lack of dedication and taking action.
The best thing is to stop procrastinating your next big move and start applying what you know to be great in this world!
To help you start your mission to greatness, here are 10 excuses that are holding you back from being great.
Having a deep understanding of all things digital marketing will serve you well when the time is right. When it’s to implement, you’ll be the dominant factor of the industry you choose to target.
But if that time looks bleak then something might be holding you back. So instead of encountering the challenges head-on, you make excuses.
When starting out, you may have one excuse; you may have several but the ultimate goal here is to make sure you get the ball rolling no matter what mind games.
1. My Idea is Available in the Market
This is the first question most entrepreneurs will ask themselves. I don’t think it really matters who first created the first online bookstore and search engine in the 90's.
Barnes and Noble or Amazon?
Google search, AOL Search or Yahoo search?
Facebook, Snapchat or Myspace?
Salesforce or Oracle?
If you look more closely, you’ll see that none of this actually matters when it comes to who started first, it’s all about building or creating a unique product.
2. Who will buy my stuff
The key here is finding a problem and creating a solution, be it a service or product but you’ll need to provide value as a solution. Also providing advice and enriching someone’s life can be part of solving a problem.
3. My idea is ahead of its time
Sometimes you might think you have the best idea and there is nothing out there like it. You’ll be shocked!
Yes, it might have an advanced idea and a lot of advanced ideas have failed miserably, but if you've thought about this idea, you might not be alone in the world.
So believing in your idea and executing it might make the difference rather simply giving excuses, you shouldn't put a time frame on when you want to reach your targets - work hard, be persistence and stay the course.
4. People are lucky, but I'm not
Hahaha! I hear this all the time!
What does luck mean?
Believe it’s just a distraction to stop you from starting something great. Jeff Bezos never depended on luck, he went out, worked hard and got "Lucky" in the sense. So in my opinion, being lucky entitles hard-work at it's finest and working smart at your best abilities to get where you can become lucky.
5. Disability won’t let you do anything
Yes, this can be a case by case situation but so long as you are mentally capable of functioning, then you are just giving yourself excuses not to achieve. I have been in an accident that put me in a comma but it didn’t take my brain away. I was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at age 17, but that hasn’t stopped me from creating my own company and helping others achieve success too.
Rather than slow me down, in fact, it has actually given me the drive and energy to focus on doing great things in little ways that I'm personally proud of and will spend the rest of my life doing.
6. It's Tough or too difficult
Anything worth positive or worth gaining will have difficulties and will be a tough road ahead. Think about it for a second, when did you last do something so easily that brought in great results?
I doubt it. Don't cut yourself short in life.
7. No Education
If this is really a problem, then you might be living in space. Even if you don't have a college education or advanced degree, there are tones of educational sites that will teach you new skills. You can also visit your local library and learn a few things every week. Read often, this will help you grow your attention span and help you more as you grow.
8. Better to be safe than sorry.
Imagine waking up tomorrow and death is on the horizon. All your life you played it safe and dreamt with no action. You stayed at your 9-5 job and did what you were told for years. Sure you got promotions to better authority within the company, but at your peak, you still only made $65,000 - $80,000. You had ideas and watched someone else create it. They created memorable products; you’re on your deathbed with nothing and you never figured out how to just get ahead.
Feel sorry yet?
9. You can’t question the authority.
Nations were founded on questioning authority. Countless Rock stars, celebrities, and political leaders made their mark by disrupting the establishment.
If you start a business to free yourself, then dare not oppose the “powers that be”, you undermine the very spirit of entrepreneurship.
Question the authority! Break the rules!
Just make sure you have evidence to support your claims, otherwise, you’re just being a punk, and not in a cool way.
10. Other people are more lucky.
If you put everything into perspective, pure “Luck” is simply a myth we turn to believe. If someone is “lucky” they are doing stuff behind the scenes you’re not seeing and cannot quantify. Taking action and simply doing something instead of making excuses will do wonders for your “luck”.
Besides, other’s luck doesn’t directly impact you - this is also Karma at its finest.
In fact, you have all the time, resources, and knowledge required to be great if you keep pushing and reaching your goals.
Being great, powerful, smart, is a choice you make. It’s a choice to never stop making moves even if it doesn’t work out the first time around. It’s a choice to view yourself as limitless in potential. It’s a choice to stop at nothing until everyone knows your name or brand.
Without a doubt, you’ll encounter many obstacles on your journey but what separates you from the bunch is how you navigate through the trenches. Difficulties and frustration will be part of the process. Handle every situation with grace!
